Heather L. Apicella is the Principal Shareholder with Apicella Law Group Law Firm, P.A. Ms. Apicella is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Marital and Family Law and a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. She is a member of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, Palm Beach County Bar Association, South Palm Beach County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, and South Palm Beach County Collaborative law group, concentrating her practice in the area of Family Law.
Ms. Apicella is a past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar. She was elected to the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section in 2018, and she served as the Secretary from 2018-2019; Treasurer from 2019-2020; the Chair-Elect from 2020-2021; Chair from 2021-2022; and immediate past chair from 2022-2023. She served on the Executive Council from 2009 until her appointment to the Executive Committee.
Ms. Apicella has been very active in the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, and she is a past Chair of the finance committee, past chair of the legislation committee, past chair of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee, past Chair of the Support Issues Committee and past Chair of the long-range planning committee. She also served as one of four members of the Marital & Family Law Review Course Committee, an appointed position she Chaired in 2019-2020.
Prior to her service to the state bar, Ms. Apicella was very active in the Broward County Bar Association. She is the past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Broward County Bar Association. During her term, she was awarded the Practice Section Chair Award in recognition of her leadership and guidance as The Chair of The Family Law Section.
Ms. Apicella currently serves on the board of directors of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation, which is a position she was appointed to in July of 2023. The Unicorn Foundation “is dedicated to building lifelong pathways for individuals with developmental differences, from birth to success, while supporting their families on this complex journey.”
Ms. Apicella was recently named a “2023 Best Lawyer” by the Best Lawyers in America, a recognition she obtained in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. She was also honored in 2021 Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. She was named a 2022 Top Up and Comer by South Florida Legal Guide, a recognition she has held for the past five years. Ms. Apicella was selected by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel as the Nation’s Top One Percent.

SYDNEY A. TOWNE, Esq., Associate Attorney at Apicella Law Group, P.A., graduated cum laude from the University of Miami, School of Law in 2016. Ms. Towne previously attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a Commonwealth Honors College student and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Journalism.
Between receiving her undergraduate degree and attending law school, Ms. Towne taught high school in Connecticut with Teach for America and wrote for The Miami Herald. As a second-year law student, Ms. Towne interned with the 11th Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Division assisting case managers with conducting domestic violence hearings and legal research. Ms. Towne was also an intern for the Miami-Dade Public Defenders and researched and edited "What You Don't Know Can Hurt You: The Collateral Consequences of a Conviction in Florida,” which was published in August 2015.
Ms. Towne's passion for Family Law lies in the successful resolution of her client's parenting and financial issues. Ms. Towne has exclusively practiced Family Law prior to joining Apicella Law Group, P.A. Ms. Towne was selected to the 2022 Best Lawyers Ones to Watch.
